About the lecture
English is a stress-timed language — the real secret to sounding fluent is knowing what to stress, and how.
Do you wonder if listeners understand what you are saying? Do you wish you could sound more like a native speaker, but struggle to get rid of your accent?
You don't have to get rid of it.
Intonation is a skill you can master. It takes time, but once you do, it will open opportunities for you both in the booth and as a public speaker.
What proper intonation does
Mastering stress and silence allows you to:
- Stress what is important in a way that is subtle yet obvious
- Add a rhythm to your interpretation that makes it easier on the listener
- Punctuate your speech, adding logic and flow that might otherwise be lost
- Feel more confident about your delivery in the booth
